Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric's ECX 6.2 release on February 11th, 2019 will deliver a set of new features over its predecessor release ECX 6.1.
Global Fabric Connectivity
Customers will now be able to make Layer 2 connections between all regions in the world. You will be able to connect between the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe.
Global Fabric Connection Pricing
When you create a Layer 2 connection between regions or metros, pricing will be displayed as you create the order and submit. You will be able to view pricing before you submit an order. Pricing will be dependent on selected origin + destination metros + speed of connection.
This feature facilitates viewing remote connections pricing before submitting the request for service creation so that customers are aware of the precise billing implications due to the specific remote connection. Attributes associated with the pricing strategy include: Selected origin + destination metros and associated speed of the connection.
If customers select a custom speed for creation of the connection, they will be able to see the cost of the next available billing tier based on their bandwidth selection.
For API Integrated providers, customers will see only the cost of the bandwidth which is associated with their entered service key.
The pricing for connections created using unlimited package ports will display $0 price for the local connection component of the price breakdown.
Connection Inventory is displayed in List View
You will now be able to view your inventory in List View in the ECX Portal. You will be able to switch off between list view or tile view for your convenience.
As part of our increased focus on security improvements for customers, we are rolling out multi-factor authentication. Now, beyond ID and password for the Cloud Exchange Fabric Portal, users will have an extra verification step that is a “token” sent via text message or email.
Admin Assisted Federation Login
When a user from an organization attempts to log into the Cloud Exchange Fabric portal, they will be redirected to their company's active directory for authentication, and if successful, redirected back to the application with a token confirming the authentication, and automatically logged in, using the same credentials as your company credentials.
Federation is enabled by exchanging SAML metadata and setting up trust between a customer and Cloud Exchange Portal login servers. At present this is a manual process or "admin assisted".
Customers will need to sign up to opt in to Admin Assisted Federation Log in through their company. You can do so through the Trouble Ticket Question Mark at the bottom right of every page and submitted a ticket in the category for Admin Assisted Federated Log in.
Customers will now be able to change their own password at their convenience. It will be in the header of the ECX Portal after you log in, when you click on your name in the top right corner.
